We bring learning through play to millions of children with the support of our dedicated LEGO® employees, the LEGO Foundation, and partners across the globe.
Why? Not only is play fun, it’s also the brains favourite way to learn. It helps children to problem solve, collaborate, communicate, empathise and more, equipping them with skills for the future. Our local community engagement program sees employees and communities unite as they respond to local needs with volunteering initiatives that positively impact the lives of children through play.
Build the Change
Build the Change inspires and empowers children to build a more sustainable future through play. Children use their creative superpowers to take on planet and people problems and share their ideas for a brighter tomorrow.
LEGO® Braille Bricks in China
We have made significant progress in China with our LEGO® Braille Bricks, a play-based methodology that teaches braille to children who are blind or have visual impairment. We have reached hundreds of special educations schools with tailored trainings, Braille Bricks sets, and toolkits across 30 provincial administrative districts - and in the process training over 600 educators/caretakers.
Prescription for Play
Our Prescription for Play programme focuses on embedding learning through play in pediatric care in the U.S. and China. During routine pediatric visits, families learn about the importance of dedicating time to play for their children's learning and growth and receive a LEGO DUPLO® brick kit. In the U.S. we reached 786,000 caregivers and engaged 2,000 health care providers.
The planned expansion in China has been slower than expected due largely to the prolonged impact of COVID shutdowns. In 2024 a new partner will be appointed to expand the programme.
Build to Give
The holiday season should be a time of joy and festive cheer, but for many children and families, it can be difficult. Through the LEGO Group, families and fans can join the Build to Give campaign by building and sharing a heart. For every heart displayed in-store or shared online, we donate a LEGO set to a child in need of play.
Established in 2021, the network now consists of 17 children's and science museums across the U.S. The museums are dedicated to embedding Learning through Play experiences for children and caregivers in their exhibits and programs, and developing high impact programming for underserved children through reciprocal partnerships with community organizations.
