Activities and Guides for Parents of 3 Year Olds

Age 3+

And just like that, they’re three! Congratulations for making it unscathed (hopefully) through toddler-ville and into the world of the pre-schooler!
As you maaaay have noticed, three-year-olds are, shall we say, ‘spirited’ young characters! A bundle of energy and curiosity, you may also find they ‘knows themself’ a little more at this age, as they learn about their likes, dislikes, interests and emotions.

Play experiences with a three-year-old reach a whole new level, as their capability for structured play activities increases, like games that follow rules or patterns and activities that require more patience, concentration and refined motor skills like LEGO® DUPLO® builds. By this age, they’ll likely have more confidence on their feet, and be keen to attempt scaling climbing frames or climbing trees (as you watch on with bated breath!).

As three-year-olds’ imaginations develop, you’ll find they’re also able to take the lead in unstructured play, like role play and fantasy play. They might mimic tasks or actions they’ve observed other people doing, and weave their own story into it too, like building a cafe with LEGO DUPLO, playing waiter and taking your order (make ours a double macchiato with chocolate sprinkles, please!), or dressing up and acting as a character from one of their favorite stories.

We hope you enjoy exploring our specially curated round-up of content for three-year-olds, to help you prepare for the stages and milestones you’re likely to experience this year, and the play styles and activities best suited to this wonderful age. Ready, steady, play!
