Keeping bricks in play
LEGO® play is made to last. That’s why LEGO bricks can be built and rebuilt into an infinite number of different things! Because bricks bought years ago still fit perfectly with bricks from today… and tomorrow, you can keep passing on play through generations.
We want to ensure no brick goes to waste. We know from research carried out in 2021 that 96% of families in the UK, Germany and France who are ready to part with their much-loved LEGO products pass them on to friends, family, charities, local schools or sell them, bringing joy to a whole new generation of builders. But we want to make sure every LEGO brick is played with again and again and again!!
Building on success
In 2019 we launched LEGO Replay in the US, followed by Canada in 2020 and the UK in 2024, as a way to breathe new life into pre-loved bricks. This take-back scheme helps families donate used bricks to inspire playful learning for children in need of play, by simply boxing them up and downloading a free shipping label.
Over the last five years we’ve learnt what it takes to efficiently collect, clean and sort donated bricks, trialing different donation outputs and unlocking opportunities through our trusted network of charity partners.
We’re also testing other ways to encourage people to trade in used LEGO bricks through our LEGO brick buy-back pilots in the US and Germany, as we explore how LEGO fans prefer to participate in a take-back scheme.
Pass on play
We always encourage LEGO builders to pass on their bricks to friends, family, charities or local schools. If you have LEGO bricks you no longer use, why not consider donating or selling your bricks to keep them in play for someone else to enjoy?

Moving to a circular economy
We’ve joined forces with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. The shared ambition for the membership is to help drive a global transition to a circular economy.
The focus of our membership will include working with businesses, experts and policymakers to inspire circular design across the toy industry and beyond, expand the circular services and products the LEGO Group offers and teach children about the circular economy through play.
More sustainable materials
We’re working hard to find solutions to make our products from more sustainable materials by 2032. In fact, many of the LEGO® bricks and elements you know and love are already made with recycled and renewable materials!
