Spark your imagination in the Masterpiece Gallery at LEGO® House

LEGO® bricks are timeless fun for all ages, just ask 19-year-old Roldan Grace, the youngest exhibitor at this year’s exhibition in the Masterpiece Gallery at LEGO House. According to Roldan, LEGO bricks let kids become world builders while picking up loads of fantastic skills along the way. Read on to get his top tips for getting started on a building adventure.

Ready to be amazed by some of the best LEGO creations from around the world? Then take your family to LEGO House in Billund, to see 15 LEGO artists showcasing their extraordinary builds at the Masterpiece Gallery exhibition – the perfect family adventure of imaginative builds showcasing how far creativity can go with LEGO bricks. Roldan Grace from the US is this year’s youngest exhibitor.

It started with LEGO® Star Wars

As a child, Roldan loved piecing together puzzles and building with whatever he could find. So, when he was gifted with Indiana Jones™ and Star Wars™ LEGO sets at age four, he was instantly captivated by how LEGO bricks allowed him to bring his imagination to life, creating and recreating endless possibilities!

Later, Roldan began sorting bricks, studying techniques and entering his first LEGO Ideas contests. He passionately got to refine his skills and challenge the notion that LEGO bricks are just a toy. Now, Roldan builds professionally, seeing LEGO bricks as a medium for artistic expression: “I’m not a doctor, not a writer, not a sports player; I’m someone who channels their artistic talent into LEGO bricks because that’s where I can create beautiful things.”

With LEGO bricks kids become world builders

Exhibiting at LEGO House, Roldan aims to spark the creativity of families, encouraging them to let their imagination run wild. Roldan sees LEGO bricks as the ultimate tool, enabling kids to become world builders. Building with LEGO bricks combines engineering, imagination, storytelling, mathematics and design into something truly magical and fun.

Roldan’s top tips for all new builders on how to get started

  1. Try tweaking your LEGO sets: If you’re already building LEGO sets but want to start creating your own, start making small modifications to your sets – like adding an extra section or a landscape around it.
  2. Build what you like: Try recreating things around you, your pet, your living room or your family car. Figuring out how to bring real-life objects to life with LEGO bricks is a nice way of learning.
  3. Find inspiration from other LEGO builders: Try replicating their models – it’s a fantastic way to pick up new techniques and improve your own building skills.
  4. Get organized: Instead of tossing all your LEGO bricks into one big bin, sort them by different types of elements. Now, you can easily see what you’ve got and avoid wasting 30 minutes searching for that one piece – or worse, realizing you don’t have enough to finish your build.

Don’t miss Roldan’s stunning Knight on Horseback, crafted from over 11,000 LEGO bricks, along with two other brilliant creations – a Scarlet Macaw and a whimsical Wandering House. All are on display at the Masterpiece Gallery exhibition in LEGO House, Billund, Denmark. Learn more.
