Review: The new LEGO® Polaroid Camera is perfect – except for one thing

What are you looking for when you buy a camera? Stylish design? Tick. User-friendly features? Big tick. The exclusive ability to capture absolutely nothing? Then we’ve got the camera for you.

The LEGO® Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera set recreates the iconic camera in (almost) life-like detail. You can enjoy the unforgettable design and features, including the viewfinder, Color Spectrum and exposure compensation dial.

Thanks to the sturdy nature of LEGO bricks, the camera is completely waterproof (unlike many others on the market). Not to mention, if it smashes, you can simply rebuild it over and over again.

It might not actually take photos and lack some, or maybe all, mechanical function, but hey – you’ll never have tech issues again.

The click function is satisfying, and the camera truly favors the unphotogenic. It’s what we’ve all been waiting for.

You can load one of three illustrated ‘Polaroid photos’ from the brick-built Polaroid Time-Zero Supercolor SX-70 Land Film pack into the camera, and press the red shutter button to eject the photo, just like the real thing (because pretending is far better than actually doing).

The LEGO Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera is already proving a hit with some of the world’s most influential (and definitely real) photographers. According to them, it has become the best-rated non-functioning camera...

Reviews

“I love this camera so much! Not being able to take photos on it is completely irrelevant.” – Travel influencer, Len Scover

“To be honest, I actually prefer this to a camera that can take photographs!” – World famous shutterbug, Megan Pixel

It’s really cool that you can click it and then not a lot happens. – Wedding photographer, Phil M Cannister

“You never have to charge your camera again.” – Fin Stax

Cameras are about more than just taking photographs, in the same way that game consoles are about more than the games that they play, or in which great aircraft are about more than the routes they fly.

(Incidentally, if you’re after an iconic console or aircraft, we’ve also got you covered.)

Great cameras capture moments in time, just like the photographs they take (or don’t take, in our case).

If you look at the printed photos provided in this set, you’ll see Edwin H. Land who actually founded the Polaroid Corporation and was responsible for the development of the Polaroid OneStep SX-70.

In 1977, when the Polaroid OneStep SX-70 was released, it was immediately very popular. The ability to take photographs that would be developed right away in the user’s hands launched the camera into the popular consciousness.

47 years later, LEGO Ideas released a brick-made version of it as the world’s most loved non-functioning camera! And it is its ability to give you instant fun instead of instant pictures that makes it a must-have!

So, if you’re looking for an iconic camera for the photography lover in your life, then this is the perfect set. If you’re looking for something that can actually capture iconic moments… then get a functioning Polaroid camera, from Polaroid?

POLAROID and the Polaroid Color Spectrum are protected trademarks of Polaroid.
