How to get Glass in LEGO® Fortnite® Odyssey

In LEGO® Fortnite® Odyssey, Glass is a powerful item that takes a lot of work to create. But it’s worth it because you can make some great items with Glass!

Glass is a processed material in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, meaning that you have to find its ingredients and then turn those ingredients into Glass using a machine. In the same way that you can collect the raw material Wood and process it at a Lumber Mill to make Planks, you need to gather Sand and Brightcore and process it at a Metal Smelter to make Glass.

In this LEGO Fortnite Odyssey story, we’ll show you how to gather the required resources, upgrade your village, build the Metal Smelter, and create Glass.

Getting ready for the desert

Many of the ingredients that you need to make Glass require you to travel to a Dry Valley biome, the desert-like areas in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey.

Make sure you’re protected from the heat, which is kind of the defining characteristic of a Dry Valley. You can do that in a bunch of ways.

Consider bringing some Snowberry Shakes, which you can make at a Juicer with 2 Snow Berries and 1 Milk. Each shake gives you 10 minutes of protection against the extreme heat you’ll be facing. You can find Snow Berries in the cold Frostlands biomes. They grow on bushes just like Raspberries do in Grasslands biomes. Pet a cow to get Milk.

You can also make a Cool-Headed Charm at your Crafting Bench to protect you from the heat. You’ll need 3 Heavy Wool Thread, 5 Frost Shells, 1 Sand Brute Scale, and 3 Malachite Slabs. (It’s a lot easier to make Snowberry Shakes.)

After you’ve prepared, it’s time to head into the desert in search of some raw materials.

Gathering Blast Core, Brightcore, Obsidian and Sand

You’re going to need several materials on your path to creating Glass, and you’ll find them all in the Dry Valley.

To get Sand, travel to a Dry Valley biome and dig. You can harvest Sand with the lowliest Common Shovel, which you can make at your Crafting Bench with 3 Wooden Rods and 1 Plank, both of which you can craft at a Lumber Mill. The recipe for 1 Glass requires 2 Sand, so keep that in mind as you’re digging and collecting.

The next three items — Blast Core, Brightcore, and Obsidian — are all found in Dry Valley Caves. Finding Caves there is a lot like finding them elsewhere. But exploring Dry Valley Caves is a lot more dangerous — especially the caves filled with lava.

While you’re exploring Dry Valley Caves, be on the lookout for dark purple rocks on the wall. That’s Obsidian, and you’ll need that to upgrade your Village to Level 9. Make sure that you have a Rare Pickaxe or better mine it.

Blast Core is available as a reward for defeating minifigure enemies inside of Dry Valley Caves. You’ll need 3 Blast Core soon, so bring your best weapon, fight, and collect your loot.

To get Brightcore, you need to find a Cave filled with lava in a Dry Valley biome. Inside of the Dry Valley Cave, look for glowing rocks on the wall. That’s Brightcore! Like Obsidian, you’ll need a Rare Pickaxe or better to mine it.

Upgrading your village to Level 9

Villages are the beating heart of LEGO Fortnite Odyssey worlds. The more time you put into them, the more minifigure friends you can make and the more you can build. And if you put in enough hard work and effort, you’ll be able to make Glass.

You need a Metal Smelter to make Glass. The blueprint for the Metal Smelter unlocks when you upgrade your Village to Level 9.

You can always interact with your Village Hub to learn about the current state of your Village. If your Village can be leveled up, it’ll tell you what materials are required to do so.

From Village Level 8, you’ll need to collect or make:

  • 15 Flexwood, which you get from chopping down a cactus in a Dry Valley desert biome. Before you head there, make sure to craft a Rare Forest Axe at a Rare Crafting Bench, or you won’t be able to cut through the cactus.
  • 15 Obsidian, which you’ll find in lava-filled Dry Valley Caves. You’ll need a Rare Pickaxe or better to mine the valuable resource.
  • 10 Cut Amber, which starts as Rough Amber from Dry Valley biomes and becomes Cut Amber when you run it through a Gem Cutter. You can find Rough Amber glistening and glowing yellow in Dry Valley biomes.

Turn those all in at the Village Hub, and you’ll satisfy the materials requirements to level up your Village. When you reach Village Level 9, you’ll unlock the Metal Smelter blueprint. You can find it in your Build > Utility menu.

Metal Smelter

Now you have all of the ingredients, and you’ve upgraded your Village, so it’s time to make a Metal Smelter. You’ll need:

  • 15 Brightcore, which you can find in Dry Valley Caves
  • 35 Obsidian Slabs, which you can process at a Stone Breaker
  • 3 Blast Core, which you get from defeating enemies inside of Dry Valley Caves

Feed the Sand and Brightcore that you collected into your Metal Smelter, and you’ll get Glass. Congratulations!

Spyglass and Compass

You can immediately create two great items using LEGO Fortnite Odyssey Glass, and you’ll unlock the recipe for both at the Crafting Bench after you make Glass at the Metal Smelter.

The Spyglass lets you see into the distance, and you’ll need 4 Glass and 1 Knotroot Rod from a Lumber Mill to create one.

The Basic Compass adds compass bearings to the top of your screen, and you’ll need 2 Glass and 1 Wolf Claw to create one.
