How to get Power Cells in LEGO® Fortnite®

LEGO® Fortnite® Mechanical Mayhem update changed the game in many ways, but none are as big as the vehicles it added and the wheels that help them roll.

Vehicles and contraptions need energy to move on their own, and in LEGO Fortnite, Power Cells deliver that energy. They’re like batteries in an electric car.

In this LEGO Fortnite article, we’ll teach you all about Power Cells, including how to make everything that it takes to make them.

How to make Power Cells

The recipe for Power Cells is 6 Glass and 50 Biomass. And like everything worth getting in LEGO Fortnite, it requires some work.

To make Glass, gather Sand and Brightcore from Dry Valley biomes, the rocky desert regions in LEGO Fortnite.  (You can also sometimes find Glass in local bandit camps.)

Put those materials into a Metal Smelter, and you’ll get Glass. The Metal Smelter is a reward for reaching Village Level 9. Making a Metal Smelter requires the following resources:

  • 15 Brightcore, which you can find in Dry Valley Caves
  • 35 Obsidian Slabs, which you can process at a Stone Breaker
  • 3 Blast Cores, which you get from defeating enemies inside of Dry Valley Caves

If you build a Metal Smelter and it doesn’t have the recipe for Glass, go to a Dry Valley or Shores biome with a Shovel and dig. When you add Sand to your inventory, you learn the recipe for Glass. Now, return to your Metal Smelter, and you’ll see it there.

Be sure to read our guide to making Glass to learn how to prepare for the hot desert climate and make sure you’re bringing what you need.

To make Biomass, you need a Compost Bin, the green, eco-friendly Station that arrived with the Mechanical Mayhem update.

The Compost Bin accepts a wide variety of ingredients and produces Biomass, Fertilizer, and Soil. What you get out of it all depends on what you put into it. The first time you create Biomass with the Compost Bin, you’ll unlock the Power Cell recipe.

Bone, the resource you get for defeating the Skeletons that arise from the ground every night and congregate in caves, is a reliable way to create Biomass.

Add resources to your Compost Bin’s Composter Queue, wait a few minutes for the Station to process them, and you’ll have a bunch of Biomass (and Compost and Fertilizer).

You can craft Power Cells at your Crafting Bench. You’ll find it in the menu with the torch icon.

To make a Power Cell, you’ll need 6 Glass and 50 Biomass.

Using Power Cells and Power Centers

LEGO Fortnite vehicles need a Power Center filled with a Power Cell before they’ll go anywhere.

There are three Power Centers in LEGO Fortnite, all of which are available in the Build Menu under Toys > Controls.

  • Small Power Center, which requires 3 Granite and 2 Cords to build
  • Medium Power Center, which requires 5 Granite and 2 Cords to build
  • Large Power Center, which requires 8 Granite and 2 Cords to build

Attach a Power Center to your vehicle, put a Power Cell inside of it, and you’ll have all the power you need to get going.

Now, you can power any contraption that your imagination can make. Enjoy some eco-friendly traveling!
