Building Together to Share your Passions as a Family

Building together to share your passions as a family

What if building LEGO® sets was more than just a fun family activity? Share more than just happy memories – share your passions with the whole family!

Ever tried getting your kids into one of your favorite hobbies or interests? Keeping up with your kids’ conversations about their obsession-of-the-week can be a minefield. But it’s so important to understand what makes them tick, and to then share your passions together.

Luckily, there’s an easier way to build passions together – LEGO Build Together! Part of the LEGO Builder app, Build Together divides LEGO builds into chunks that suit the age and skill of any builder, getting everyone in on the action.

But don’t just take our word for it! Check out how this family are building together with LEGO Build Together – they might just inspire your next brick-building bonding session!

Looking up to the stars

Bonding over a shared interest can be challenging when parents and kids have different passions. But for the Johnson family from the coastal town of Bournemouth in the UK, LEGO bricks brought them together in an unexpected way…

“We were looking for a new family activity, and Mike loves researching space exploration in his spare time, so we thought why not get a set that we can all have a go at together as a family?” says mum of two, Sarah. “We got the Space Astronaut (31152) set as it can become any one of three builds! We didn’t know which to make first, so we wrote down the three different options and pulled the name out of a bag to decide. We are now the proud owners of a Space Viper Jet...”

Her husband Mike adds, “At one point, I tried to sneak up on Sarah with the jet, but I accidentally knocked a bowl of popcorn over the whole room. We pretended they were mini meteors and used the jet to collect them all, which was cool!”

Making time for family bonding

Making time for play can be tricky for parents. Laundry, homework, vacuuming, chasing the kids around… the list goes on! That said, an important part of bonding as a family is setting aside quality time to spend together.

Building together offers exciting pockets of time for genuine enjoyment and playtime for the whole family. And when different members of the family already build as a hobby, it’s easy to turn this me-time into we-time!

In the interest of family

Now that you’ve locked some of that quality together-time into your family schedule, the next item on the menu is a delicious dose of chat! Sharing interests with family is waaay easier while you’re working together to complete something as a team. LEGO Build Together gives you the space to truly connect, building bridges between generations and letting conversations about your passions flow naturally.

With such a wide range of LEGO Build Together sets to choose from, we’ve broken them down for you into a digestible list of LEGO sets to share your passions – including everything from sports, cars and gaming to princesses, animals and outer space!

With such a huge range to choose from, who knows, you might ignite a new passion you never knew existed? Like a sudden passion for rodents, perhaps, with the LEGO Creator 3in1 Hamster Wheel (31155)? Hey, to each their own!

Building collaboration brick by brick

Collaborative family activities give everyone in your family an equal opportunity to share their passions and give their input. And this is even easier when you use the Build Together function of the LEGO Builder app!

This new way of playing with bricks embraces everyone’s personalities, imaginations, passions and building styles as part of the fun! Equal involvement builds bonds and memories, getting everyone engaged in each other’s interests – win-win!

At the end of the day, we all have different passions that we want to share with our nearest and dearest. LEGO Build Together flings the door open to a new world of possibilities for family bonding time and lets us share our interests with pride! So, what are you waiting for? Get to building, people!
