Sustainability moments in the LEGO Group's history
Did you know that back in 1932 our founder, Ole Kirk Kristiansen, used scrap from his joinery work to make yoyos? And when the yoyo craze died out, he cut them in half and used them as wheels for toy cars?
While driven by thrift and lack of available raw materials, this looks like a ‘zero waste’ approach from a 21st century perspective.
In our 90th year we opened the archives and found examples of how sustainability and social responsibility has been important to the LEGO Group since 1932. Join us for a fun trip down memory lane in the slider below.
Children
We believe every child should have an opportunity to achieve their potential. And Learning through Play is a powerful way to develop skills that will allow children to tackle challenges that lie ahead. By end of 2022, we aim to bring Learning through Play to 6 million children.
Environment
We are committed to protecting the environment and the planet our children will inherit. It’s not enough to just reduce our impact on the environment, we want to go further and have a positive impact.
People
We value the people, partners and suppliers who make LEGO® play experiences possible and we work hard to make our workplaces inclusive, safe and motivating.
