Core Responsibilities

  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in cost engineering within metalwork/machining, preferably from the plastic injection moulding industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: Provide technical cost engineering insights to the Engineering organization for efficient part development and manufacturing.
  • Data Gathering: Collect and deliver Cost estimates for plastic injection moulds/mould parts, considering raw materials, labor, equipment, tooling, etc.
  • Tool Development: Assist in developing a Mould Cost calculation tool, understanding IT system requirements and the components of Should Cost.
  • Initiative: Ability to initiate the cost engineering journey from scratch, progressing from inception to excellence.
  • Design Support: Aid in Design for Manufacturing optimization within Mould part development.

This position is Manager Specialist, working as part of Supply Chain Management (SCM) in Engineering at the LEGO Group. SCM encompasses Planning, Capacity Management, Performance Management, Mould Economy, and Masterdata, working across the end-to-end Engineering value chain to ensure operational excellence. As Cost Engineering is a new capability within Engineering, this role will be integrated into the Mould Economy & Masterdata team, working closely with the Senior Cost Procurement Manager from the Procurement Department to identify cost opportunities and ensure value for money, both internally and externally.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Educational Background: B.Sc. in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Over 5 years of experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment, with a proven track record in early cost engineering investigation and data collection.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in plastic injection molding technology, advanced machining processes (e.g., advanced milling, wire EDM), and cost analysis tools/software.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities and a solid understanding of Cost Estimating principles.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with self-confidence.
  • Collaboration: A collaborative, flexible approach and willingness to adapt to change.
  • SAP: Advantage if you have proficiency in SAP, with a particular emphasis on SAP MM (Material Management) and SAP PP (Production Planning), but not a requirement.
  • Travel: Ability to travel 10 days/year
  • Location: Willingness to work physically in Billund, Denmark.

The position is based in Billund, DK and relocation support is not offered for this role.
