Job Description

#LI-KO1

Do you want to be a key player in taking our API Ecosystem into the future, setting the standard for excellence?

Empower software engineering teams across the LEGO Group by shaping the future of our API Ecosystem. Bring your expertise and energy to build and maintain a platform that drives innovation and connectivity!

Core Responsibilities

You will be part of a team dedicated to evolving our API platform, expanding it beyond our internal ecosystem to include external consumers. Our platform is already the preferred choice for teams across the LEGO Group when exposing data—now, we’re taking it to the next level.

As a Software Engineer in our team, you will:

  • Enhance and expand our API platform to support both internal and external consumers.
  • Build self-service tools and automation that empower product teams to integrate seamlessly.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to our internal engineering community, sharing knowledge and standard methodologies.
  • Guide and support product teams in designing and building modern, scalable integrations using APIs and Events.
  • Be part of a truly dual-location team, with half of us in Billund and half in Copenhagen—helping to foster strong collaboration, communication, and a shared team identity across both locations.

By joining us, you’ll help shape an API Ecosystem that drives innovation and connectivity across the LEGO Group and beyond.

Play your part in our team succeeding

The API Discoverability & Enablement team is one of three teams within our API Management group. Our mission is to build and maintain the tools and infrastructure that empower product teams across the LEGO Group to create, discover, and consume APIs efficiently.

We take a platform engineering and product approach, ensuring we deliver solutions that provide the most value to our customers—our fellow software engineers. By encouraging a strong feedback loop with internal teams, we continuously refine and improve our platform to meet their evolving needs.

In this role, you'll work with exciting technologies such as:

  • Kong API Gateway for OpenAPI integrations
  • Pulsar event broker for scalable AsyncAPI event-driven integrations
  • Backstage for API discovery and developer experience

Do you have what it takes?

You have a passion for modern software architecture. With experience in API design and development, you understand how to build APIs using REST, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures to create seamless integrations.

You thrive in a collaborative environment, valuing teamwork and shared knowledge. Your approach is focused on enablement, ensuring that the solutions you build empower others to succeed.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience with API development, including REST, GraphQL, or event-driven architectures
  • Proficiency in C# or TypeScript (or a strong willingness to learn)
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
  • A passion for engaging in engineering communities, sharing knowledge, and driving standard methodologies
  • A curious and experimental mentality, always eager to learn and improve
  • A team-oriented approach, thriving in a flexible, diverse, and inspiring environment

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with event-driven architecture and technologies like Pulsar, Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar
  • Familiarity with API Gateways like Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway or similar
  • Understanding of OAuth and Identity providers for secure API access

Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. However, please note we do amend or withdraw our jobs and reserve the right to do so at any time, including prior to any advertised closing date. So, if you're interested in this role we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
