Join the Creative Play Lab and invent ground-breaking new play opportunities and never-seen-before creative experiences for LEGO® fans of today and tomorrow! As a leader and senior individual contributor in our Hardware Engineering group, you'll be operating on a global scale in a newly developed team within the Play Engineering organization in Product Innovation and Design at the LEGO Group in Boston!
 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a leading contributor as we explore and develop new capabilities involving embedded microelectronics and their application in complex mechatronic systems that enable awesome play experiences.

  • Be a key player involved in microelectronics design, proof of concept, product/platform development, risk management, and testing from idea stage to mass, high-volume production.

  • Ensure microelectronics solutions are aligned with our architectural blueprint, and meet all safety/regulatory/quality requirements and all other agreed-to requirements.

  • Demonstrate excellence by example in engineering, collaboration, innovation, risk management/mitigation, and delivery.

  • Work in tight collaboration with other hardware group functional team members (e.g. Mechanical and Embedded Engineering) from Boston, Denmark, and Singapore to support our capability growth efforts.

The Senior Engineer, Electronics plays an important role in the Electrical Engineering function in our Hardware and Embedded Systems Engineering group. The role is based in Boston, where LEGO Play Engineering is expanding our global footprint to help advance groundbreaking innovations that will redefine the future of play for the builders of tomorrow.
 

Do you have what it takes?

  • A builder with passion for creatively using technology as a vehicle to deliver truly outstanding play experiences to children around the world.

  • 6+ years of experience in microelectronics design and development roles that involve hardware selection and full life cycle development on projects involving robotics/mechatronics, microelectronics, complex systems, or other similar domains.

  • Strong experience in modern high-volume microelectronics development in relevant markets (e.g. consumer electronics, robotics, medical device, automotive, or similar).

  • Demonstrated skills in navigating and making thoughtful decisions pertaining to embedded system-related hardware/software interdependencies and trade-offs.

  • Evidence of strong capabilities in creative technical problem solving in modern embedded systems, coupled with well-balanced people skills.

  • Track record of strong written and verbal communications skills on global engineering efforts involving both internal and 3rd party partner companies.

  • Ability to travel as necessary, roughly 20-30 days per year, as part of our global team.
     

New Location Update

This position will initially be based at our LEGO office at Boylston St, Back Bay, Boston before moving to a new central Boston office location by the end of 2026. Our hiring teams will discuss this with you during the interview stages.

Compensation

The salary for this position has a range of $109,000 - $163,000 with bonus eligibility, which is based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.
