No relocation assistance is offered for this position.

Core Responsibilities

In this new position as Mould Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in establishing a new mould platform, named Low Volume Moulding (LVM). You will participate in the development of novelty LEGO® bricks (elements) by bringing element maturing knowledge into the design phase. It will be among your core responsibilities to ensure that the matured elements fit into the LVM platform following the principles of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), expected costs, lead time, etc. More specifically, you will:   

  • Mature elements, make robust mould constructions in 3D CAD for DFM and be part of producing the moulds in high quality. Following this, ensure that all mould master data appear in SAP

  • Responsible for standard work documentation meaning – creation, revision, translation, maintenance, uploading and administration and sharing of documentation

  • Identify mould mistakes, correct them and change processes, if needed. Develop guides/templates that support the daily work

  • Approve possible loops in Mould Qualification, make rework of moulds and participate in possible escalations

  • Bring new learnings and knowledge into play to support the development of the moulding platform both in test and implementation phase on a global scale

  • Drive KPI initiatives and LEGO Continuous Improvement (LCI) support

  • Support Novelty Element engineers with DFM expertise 

  • Advocate, enhance and engage in collaborations across departments (especially, Novelty Element Development, Maturing Manufacturing and Mould Qualification) 

  • Be part Train colleagues in best practice for robust mould design and manufacturing during daily dialogues, handover meetings, etc.

You will join the Maturing Manufacturing team in Billund developing and maturing the moulds for mass production. Furthermore, the team supports the education of toolmakers with support of mentors, trainers and apprentices. It consists of 13 highly skilled colleagues with diverse sets of backgrounds, age groups, etc.  

This role will give you a unique opportunity to develop your professional knowledge, and meanwhile to contribute to the department's future development and workflows.

Do you have what it takes?

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years’ experience as Toolmaker, Industrial Technician or equivalent roles working with toolmaking, mould design and mechanical constructions. Most importantly, you come with a strong technical manufacturing foundation, learning mindset and proven stakeholder management skills from a cross organizational industrial setting. In addition, you have:   

  • experience in maturing element designs and robust mould constructions including planning job breakdown, troubleshooting moulds, etc.

  • Strong capabilities in CAM Programming (preferably, PowerMill), CNC Milling, EDM. 3D CAD Systems (preferably, Siemens NX) and 3D scanning

  • Great curiosity and passion around robust technical designs to become the department’s decision maker and go-to-person 

Furthermore, it will be an advantage, if you have knowledge about: 

  • CMM – Ziess Calypso

  • LEAN, PPS, etc.
