A selection of LEGO® Bricks

One LEGO® Baseplate

Start with a small baseplate and some square and rectangular bricks. The size of the baseplate you'll need will depend on the size of your device.

Building the base

Build two walls, each the length of the baseplate. The first wall should be two bricks high. The second wall four bricks high. Use whatever colours you like!

Get some stability

Attach the walls to the baseplate. You can adjust the angle in which the device will stand by moving the walls closer or further apart.

Connect it all together

Get creative! Add some brick-built animals or other decorative elements to your build to add your own finishing touch.

Make it yours

Place your device in the holder, either in landscape or portrait position, then sit back and enjoy!

Sit back and relax

Start using a smaller number of bricks, and increase the number of bricks as the children become more confident.
You can allow the child copying to only ask a maximum of three questions.

Top tip

Put your communication skills to the test. Build something unique with LEGO bricks, describe the build to a partner and let them recreate!

Everyone should pair up and have 5-6 of each the same LEGO® bricks and then sit back-to-back!&nbsp;

Back-to-back

One person should build a model out of all of their LEGO® bricks and then explain it to their partner.

Now it’s the other person’s turn… Let’s see how good their partner’s instructions were!

Did it match up? Hooray! Now swap over so that everyone gets a turn to explain a build.

Each player gets 6 bricks of the same colours.

Hand out the bricks!

Player one stacks six bricks in any order and shows it to the players

Can you recreate it?

Some of the first sounds children usually begin to mimic are animal sounds. In this activity, introduce animal sounds to a young toddler... Get ready by lining up all your LEGO® DUPLO® animals!

Build your own fantasy animals and make up some sounds that they might make!

There are some more opposites below, give your child one word and see if they can come up with the opposite!
