How to decorate your house in LEGO Fortnite Brick Life

How to decorate your house in LEGO® Fortnite® Brick Life

LEGO Fortnite Brick Life puts you on the sun-soaked streets of Brick Bay, a vibrant city built with LEGO bricks and elements. And while you’ll spend plenty of time exploring brick-built skyscrapers, movie theaters and mysteriously mystic mansions, one part of the game is unique and purpose-built: the home you build.

There may be some like it on the outside, but none will be quite like yours on the inside, thanks to the decor that you can dress up your home with.

In this Fortnite Brick Life decorating guide, we’ll show you how to purchase a house or apartment and decorate it, so that you can make your own little corner of Brick Bay.

Pick a spot for your home or apartment

Before you can decorate your home, you have to build it. And before you build it, you have to choose a place for it.

If you want to build a house, walk up to an empty lot. You can find them scattered throughout your map. They’re blank spaces with little house icons on them. Head over to one, and you’ll see that the ground is glowing. Interact with the For Sale sign by the sidewalk, and choose “Claim Lot.” Now it’s yours!

If you’d rather build an apartment, look on your Brick Bay map for buildings with house icons on them. Enter through the lobby, find the elevator, and you’ll see options like “Vacant Flat” and “Vacant Penthouse” to choose from. When you find a place you like, take a ride up and you can “Claim Lot” for yourself, just like you would outside.

After you select the lot for your home, you need to select the Decorate option which brings you to a menu where you get to choose the look and style of your humble abode. If you’re a LEGO Fortnite Odyssey player, you may recognize some of your choices – among them beds, rugs and lighting – because some of them are available in both games.

After you choose your house, not only does the structure replace the glowing empty space, but a mailbox replaces the For Sale sign. Interact with your mailbox, and you’ll see two options. You can choose to Unclaim Lot if you want to move and also Refuse Visitors if you want some quality time alone.

Decorating your home

When you’re close to your house, an option to use the Decorate menu appears at the bottom left of your screen. This is where you get to take a standard house and make it your own.

Press the button to begin decorating. You’ll have some great basic items, like a bed, rug, chairs and lights to begin with. Place those on your property in whatever way you like. If you think your bed belongs in the middle of the living room, it’s no problem. Want to put a bathroom sink on the front porch? Follow your bliss!

The same easy-to-use controls from LEGO Fortnite Odyssey are available in LEGO Fortnite Brick Life, so you can tap the keys on your keyboard or the D-pad on your controller to put that end table just where you want it.

Buying decor

Every citizen of Brick Bay has a smartphone, and every smartphone has an app called Decor. That’s where you can really get into customization and let your personality shine.

You can take on various jobs around Brick Bay to earn in-game creds, and the Decor shop in your phone is where you can spend some of your hard-earned creds.

If you’re looking for something more unique, you can also visit Brick Bay’s furniture shop, Chairs, etc which regularly has brand-new items.

The options are as incredible as they are adorable, ranging from tables and chairs to decorative plants, silverware, appliances and even banners to fly. And even better news: They’re all reasonably priced!

Not only can you purchase items from the Decor shop, but you can also sell the items you currently own. Just navigate down to the menu that looks like an open cardboard box, and you’ll enter the My Decor menu. You can make some creds in a pinch by selling what you no longer want.

Already got some Decor Bundles and Builds boxed up and ready to go? Then you can use these in LEGO Fortnite Brick Life too — just look for the cross-compatible icon in your Locker.

Please note: While most Decor Bundles and Builds from LEGO Fortnite Odyssey are cross-compatible with LEGO Fortnite Brick Life, a small selection of especially large Builds will not be available for use at launch. However, these will be supported in the near future, so stay tuned for updates!

Coming back home

When you enter a LEGO Fortnite Brick Life game, you always start in the town square by Harmonious Hall. Check your map, and your house is nowhere to be seen. But don’t worry! All you have to do is choose a lot, just like you did before, and choose the building you want there. If you’ve decorated a house before, then your decor items and their placement have been saved alongside the blueprint of the house.

Check the menu where you select your house, and you’ll see a little bit of text describing the work you’ve done – that’s what “Decor Placed” means – and LEGO Fortnite Brick Life saved for you. Place your house again, and if you’ve decorated a bedroom or a porch or any part of your house before, you’ll find it just the way you left it.

Now you know how to make a house into a home. We can’t wait to see how you make it your own!
