Zoom in on the new F1® Collection Reveal with LEGO® Design Manager Daniel Meehan and GirlBricksALot.
Located in the heart of the action, the Paddock Club in Las Vegas offers the perfect view of the iconic Vegas F1® Grand Prix, but it delivered a front-row seat to a different—and much smaller—slate of cars.
LEGO brick and F1® superfan GirlBricksALot trekked from Boston to Las Vegas to the famed Paddock Club so she could check out the unveiling of the LEGO Group’s astonishing F1® Collection trackside.
There were presentations by some of the top people at the LEGO Group and F1®, but the real stars of the show were the unboxed and built versions of the collection, including breathtakingly detailed recreations of all current teams from the F1® grid.
“Individually these cars look amazing, but as a collection—as an F1® fan, these make me smile so much,” LEGO Senior Design Manager Daniel Meehan said.
“They are fantastic cars to see together.”
The sets are designed to tap into the deep love fans have of F1® vehicles and racing, giving families another opportunity to bond over their love of design and speed. For instance, the ten LEGO Speed Champions cars each feature unique design elements that set them apart from one another. The cars have authentic team liveries replicating the 2024 cars fans will see on the track. They even include Pirelli slick tire compounds.
It’s that authenticity that will delight families and fans alike. That why designing the LEGO Speed Champions sets was all about “capturing that authenticity and the aerodynamic principles, the design principles, and all of the details,” Meehan said.
And, of course, the fun doesn’t stop with the building. Families can race these cars too.
“A huge part of what kids find enjoyable about playing with LEGO cars and F1® cars is the racing aspect, so I’m really excited to see them do that,” Meehan said.
“Also, with LEGO City, it’s all the highs and lows of a race weekend that can be recreated in a really playful way that only LEGO City can deliver.”
The sets, which also include decked out Minifigs, start hitting early in 2025.
“I think it’s fantastic that we have a range of products from two-plus with LEGO DUPLO all the way up to 13-plus and 18-plus when we have LEGO Speed Champions,” Meehan said. “So there is something for every member of the family to enjoy and to share their passion for Formula 1.”
The spread of LEGO F1® cars is almost too tempting to wait to arrive, fortunately the countdown has already started. Before you know it, it will be time to build to thrill!
