Everything you Need to Know About the New Seasonal LEGO Flowers

Allow us to introduce to you the newest members of the LEGO® Botanical family – the exquisite Chrysanthemum (10368), and the elegant Plum Blossom (10369)! Trust us, every LEGO enthusiast will be itching to build them…

Ready to flex those green thumbs? The new Chrysanthemum (10368) and Plum Blossom (10369) are waiting for you. With stunning attention to detail, these unique, carefully curated collectibles will add finesse to any room in your home. Watch your guests double-take as they walk past them!

Let’s start with the Chrysanthemum (10368) – a true wonder to behold. This self-sufficient plant, with its vivid orange petals and pastel green pot, perches on top of a wood-effect plinth to make it stand out above the crowd. It’s a real showstopper at over 26cm tall, with 278 pieces…

Plum Blossom (10369) doesn’t hold back either. Measuring over 34cm high, this 327-piece set is a timeless floral display with red blossoms and a carefully designed stem to replicate natural flowing branches. Nice!

The stories behind the stems

Just like traditional works of art, these magnificent LEGO® Botanicals have a deeper meaning and story behind each one.

A popular motif in Chinese art, the chrysanthemum has been portrayed in ink and wash paintings for more than a thousand years. Part of a classic quartet known as the ‘Four Gentlemen’ or ‘Four Noble Ones’, the chrysanthemum represents purity, happiness and the season of autumn. It blooms in a variety of colors, each meaning something different. The vibrant orange we chose reflects joy and enthusiasm, making it perfect for your home!

As for the plum blossom, it’s the tough guy of the plant world and represents the season of winter! Why? Well, plum trees blossom in the coldest months, so they’re known for their resilience and perseverance. Who knows, building this set might just inspire you to power through your own challenges…

Designer insights and tips!

“Creating decor that draws inspiration from nature is a relaxing and rewarding way to set our imagination free,” says Theo Bonner, the LEGO Designer behind these botanical beauties. “You can follow the building instructions to create the curated display, but you also have the creative freedom to rearrange the flowers to grow in new directions in the grid of branches. It’s the nature of creativity, fuelled by the creativity of nature!”

When it comes to assembly, customization is key. The leaves, buds and even individual petals on the Chrysanthemum (10368) can be posed however you please. Want a full bloom look? Go for it! Prefer a more compact style? You do you – it’s your flower, your rules!

Plum Blossom (10369) is just as customizable, with branches practically begging to be rearranged. Twist and turn them to your heart’s content, emphasizing the realism of the plant. Plus, each rounded red petal can be pushed gently to the center of the flower head, or you can even go against the grain and remove plum blossom buds, centralizing focus on the full-bloomed flowers. Cool, right?

The building process

Just like some of our other botanical sets like Orchid (10311) and Tiny Plants (10329), these new sets are constructed in manageable chunks – plant pots, flowers and buds, stems and branches, and in this instance, plinths.

The pots and plinths of the Chrysanthemum (10368) and Plum Blossom (10369) are constructed with practicality in mind. Sturdy and balanced, the base of each flower will ensure there’s no toppling over when displayed. Phew!

Building each section at a time makes it a more enjoyable, zen-like experience. Pause after each stage to appreciate your accomplishment and continue when it suits you. Ahhhhhh, bliss…

A final flourish

Ready for your brick-building botanical adventure? Well, before you go, here are some fun facts about these stunning new sets…

Did you know that the petals of the Chrysanthemum (10368) are made with LEGO banana and claw pieces? Or that the palm leaves used in the build also feature in the Wildflower Bouquet (10313) set?

And that’s not all! The center of each flower on the Plum Blossom (10369) set looks like a tiny crown. Take a closer look, and you’ll notice the petals vary between four or five per flower. There's certainly more to our two new builds than meets the eye. The question is, which one will you grow first? The power of Mother Nature is in your hands…
