Recreate the best scenes from Hocus Pocus with the new LEGO® Ideas | Disney set

In 1993, the magical world of Hocus Pocus exploded onto the big screen. A hilarious tale of three witches determined to stay young forever.

Unlike the witches, this comedy-packed movie never gets old and now, we’re excited to announce a new way to enjoy the film off-screen.

Say hello to the ultimate Halloween build: the LEGO® Ideas | Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage.

To show you some spellbinding ways to display it, fans have recreated some of the best scenes from Hocus Pocus using the set. Plus, we chatted with the fan designer Amber Veyt all about her winning idea!

If you like running amok on Halloween, then thou will enjoy this LEGO brick retelling...

“SISTAAAS” – Winifred

The Sanderson Sisters

The set’s mastermind, Amber Veyt (TheAmbrinator) is a graphic designer from Belgium and, as you can guess, she loves Hocus Pocus. “The film brings back a lot of childhood memories because I’ve watched it with my mum and sister ever since I was little,” says Amber.

“I shall be young and beautiful again, forever” – Winifred

The witches brewing Life Potion to make them young forever.

One day after watching the film, she realized there was no existing LEGO set for Hocus Pocus, so she took it upon herself to make it happen. “I didn’t know how to bring my idea to life because I don’t have a large brick collection at home. I looked up whether there was a way to build it digitally and discovered Bricklink’s Studio designer software.

The film begins 300 years ago in Salem where we first see the cottage that inspired Amber’s design. She submitted her idea on LEGO Ideas, and after receiving 10,000 votes, it was selected to be a real LEGO set.

“My friends at school told me all about that place. It’s weird!”  Dani

Sneaking into the abandoned witch museum on Halloween night.

The set is packed with nostalgic details from the film, including Dani’s pumpkin bucket, cages on the ceiling (as a nod to Jay and Ice, the bullies at Max’s school), the large cauldron plus much more. We’ll leave the rest as a surprise...

“It’s just a bunch of hocus pocus” – Max

Max, Dani and Allison exploring inside the old museum.

You get 6 LEGO® | Disney minifigures in the set: all three Sanderson Sisters, Max, Dani and Allison, plus a figure of the lovable Thackery Binx (in his immortal cat form).

Amber’s personal favorite character from the film is Allison. “I always looked up to her. She’s true to herself and a brave hero.”

“We’ve been gone 300 years.”

The Sanderson Sisters come back to life 300 years later.

“I was able to give input right up until the final design, and the LEGO designers added some extra details for fans to discover,” explains Amber.

“I really love that they included a ‘Billy Loves Winifred’ sticker which is crossed out to say ‘Sarah’ because she stole him from her. The Easter eggs in the set make me laugh, so I hope they make you laugh as well.”

“The burning rain of death.”

The set also includes some playable features. If you spin the water wheel on the side of the cottage, pink smoke comes out of the chimney, just like in the film.

You can also activate the LEGO light brick to light the fire under the cauldron. Since the film is first set in Salem in the 1600s, Amber carried out research to ensure details like the cottage roof were representative of that time.

“Come, we fly!”

The Sanderson Sisters flying on their makeshift brooms. (Yes, a LEGO brick mop and vacuum cleaner are included.)

She hopes fans who buy the set can enjoy the building experience and then display it on Halloween. At least, that’s what she’ll be doing.

“Form a circle of salt to protect from zombies, witches and old boyfriends” – Allison

When Allison had the salt at the ready...

“It’s amazing the LEGO Group gives fans the opportunity to pitch future sets, as they make a lot of awesome ones, but don’t always think of everything.”

It all starts with an idea, and it could be yours next with LEGO Ideas!

Will you be watching Hocus Pocus this Halloween? Why not treat yourself to the magical LEGO | Disney set.
