7 coolest LEGO® Ferrari sets ever made

7 coolest LEGO® Ferrari sets ever made

On paper, Ferrari and the LEGO Group couldn’t be more different. One is a pioneer in luxury car making from Italy, the other is Danish and invents colorful little bricks that can be built into almost anything…

One thing we do share in common is that both of us champion innovation, high quality and stellar design. It’s no surprise, then, that we have been collaborating on and off since 2004. From Maranello to Billund, home to the LEGO Group HQ, the Prancing Horse returns yet again i the form of the super speedy LEGO® Technic™ Ultimate Ferrari Daytona SP3 – one of our most intricate supercars to date.

To celebrate its grand release, we take a look back at some of the coolest LEGO Ferrari cars in history, in order from newest to oldest.

Note: We whizzed through old Ferrari archives for pure entertainment purposes, so most of these models are no longer available to buy through official retailers…

Some cars just have that wow factor, and the Ferrari Daytona SP3 is one of them. Perhaps it’s the way it reinterprets elements from past Ferrari racing legends into a fully modern form.

And with a naturally aspirated V12 engine, this supercar simply had to be the muse for our next LEGO Technic™ set.

Our brick-built version is (almost) as sleek and sporty as the real thing. It comes with authentic features such as butterfly opening doors, steering, front and rear suspension, a realistic V12 engine with moving pistons, plus much more. It’s the perfect challenge for advanced builders.

This is the fourth set to be released as part of the LEGO Technic™ Ultimate Car Concept series in 1:8 scale. To make the car design as authentic as possible, we increased the size of the tires and rims.

This is the ultimate collectible for LEGO brick and Ferrari fans alike, who are looking for a special display piece for their office, or to upgrade their home décor.

LEGO® Technic™ Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51”

2021

Ferrari aficionados will know that this car has raced its way to the top of the podium in some of the world’s toughest endurance races. Bringing the authenticity of the real thing with superb features like a fully functioning steering wheel, opening doors, a V8 engine with moving pistons and a front and back suspension, it’s fun to build but will also look darn impressive as a centerpiece on your shelf.

This is the ultimate Ferrari collectible but it’s also much more than that. A way to switch off your own engine, get hands-on and create something epic from the comfort of your living room.

Alessandro Pier Guidi, the Ferrari Competizioni GT official driver (who sits behind the wheel of the real thing) loves it too…

1970 Ferrari 512 M

This set is a treat for race car fans. Pay homage to an iconic race car, the 1970 Ferrari 512 M, famous for its fearsome performance and epic on-track action. Build this realistic (and much smaller) version for either play or display and appreciate all the authentic details as you build.

The designers really honed in on the sculpting of the car to recreate its sleek lines and aerodynamic design.

It also comes with a Ferrari racing driver equipped with race suit and crash helmet.

LEGO Creator Ferrari F40

2015

A Ferrari fan favorite and one of the most iconic supercars to come out of Maranello, it made perfect sense for us to recreate the F40 out of bricks (and you’re lucky if you ever managed to get your hands on one).

Released back in 2015, this sleek model came with a vented rear hatch that lifted to expose the detailed V8 engine as well as a rear spoiler, pop-up headlights and a hood containing a baggage compartment. The doors of the car opened to reveal the authentic interior with its trademark red race car seats and a Ferrari branded steering wheel.

1158 pieces to click together and there you had it. Your very own F40, because we’re not all lucky enough to own the real thing.

LEGO® Racer Ferrari FXX

2008

The FXX is a high-performance track-only race car known for its sporty white stripe across the hood. Since the real thing is too mean for the streets, its lifelike LEGO brick counterpart could be placed into a Ferrari fan’s home (legally) instead.

Mirroring the features of the actual FXX, this LEGO set checked all the boxes: attention to detail on the body of the car, the 800 hp engine, impressive scissor doors, a fully opening hood, a kitted-out interior with a branded steering wheel and seatbelts, plus realistic wheels with an eye-popping red outline, just like the real race car.

LEGO® Racer Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano

2007

Giving Ferrari fans a more stripped-back kind of collectible, the LEGO Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano set had nothing to hide. Designed without its shell to expose the detailed chassis, you can see that our partially naked version of this epic grand tourer was unlike many of its brick-built siblings. Why, we hear you ask?

The real-life 599 released in 2007 was the first ever Ferrari GT car to introduce next-level aluminum chassis technology. Our LEGO set was very much a tribute to that – because as we know beauty’s more than just skin deep, especially when it comes to supercars.

LEGO® Ferrari F1 Racer

2006

Consider yourself part of the Tifosi? Then you’ll appreciate this LEGO Ferrari Formula One race car released in 2006. This set was one of the largest LEGO Ferrari models created, scaling up at 24 in. (61cm) long with serious attention to detail on construction and aesthetic.

The cool features included a working suspension, a steering wheel that cleverly turned the front wheels and twelve moving pistons in the engine. Racing its way from YAS Marina Circuit all the way to Silverstone, this LEGO Racers version of the real-life Scuderia race car would have fueled any F1 fan’s passion for motorsports.
