LEGO Australia celebrates 100 years of Disney magic

    Celebrate Disney 100

Prepare to Share the Wonder as the LEGO Group and Disney Announce a Secret, Supersized Build

On Friday, June 23, the LEGO Group and Disney will raise the curtain on a supersized, masterpiece at Westfield Doncaster to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary, before opening to the public and embarking on a journey up the east coast.

The top-secret project, which has been months in the making, will be sure to delight families and fans, with the LEGO Group and Disney set to reveal an out of this world build, combining the playful joy and creativity that the two long-standing partners have inspired for over 24 years.

Disney and LEGO fans are invited to share the wonder at a special curtain unveiling event at 10:30am on June 23 at Westfield Doncaster, joined by special guest and LEGO extraordinaire Ryan ‘Brickman’ McNaught.

While the magic and mystery remain under wraps, several clues have been left for fans to guess what supersized build might be behind the curtain:

    • The world first saw this in the 70s
    • Larger than life friends will join to celebrate
    • More than 765,000 LEGO bricks make up this build

Forming an integral part of this special milestone, the LEGO Group and Disney are proud to champion the stories of the female creators behind the epic build.

Reflecting on the partnership, Senior Designer at the LEGO Group, and the brains behind the awe-inspiring brick creation, Monika Pacikova, said, “I grew up as a Disney and LEGO fan, and to have the chance to work on this project has been a real-life dream.”

“As a young girl, your imagination and passion for creative play can sometimes be underestimated. We need to celebrate and foster the limitless opportunities that come from creativity. Disney storytelling and LEGO bricks can inspire children (and grown-up children like me) to build and bring to life incredible worlds.”

“I am excited to witness this project come to life and hopefully inspire others to pursue their dreams!”

Following its magical unveiling, the LEGO Disney build can be enjoyed by fans at Westfield Doncaster until July 2, then will pop up and delight guests at Westfield Chermside in Brisbane from July 4 to July 9, before making its last stop on its enchanting journey at Westfield Bondi from July 10 to July 16, for Sydney fans to enjoy.
