4.1
A child plays with LEGO® bricks

Steps

  • Step 1

    How is a story built?

    A LEGO knight

Introduce everyone to the idea that a story has a beginning, middle and end. Just like your physical creations using LEGO® bricks, a story has to built from the bottom up!

  • Step 2

Do you have what it takes?

    Child building LEGO

See if everyone can build their own story (on a base plate or without) in the three steps: beginning, middle and end.

  • Step 3

    Let's hear your story!

Mother and Child building LEGO smiling.

Once you’re all done, grab some treats and sit back to listen to each other’s stories!

Top Tips

If the children are struggling finding something to build you can give them some tips to get them started:

Choose 15 bricks and use these to:

Build an animal

Build a secret place

Build something magical

Afterwards you can move this activity into a writing exercise where they have to write down the story they have built.
