We believe the LEGO Group – and LEGO® play – is for everyone.
It’s our mission to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow. To succeed in this mission, we want to play our part in building a more inclusive and welcoming world, starting with our own organization. Here we celebrate differences through a culture of authenticity and inclusion designed to create a sense of belonging.
What does a welcoming workplace mean to us
LEGO® play is for everyone, and so is our workplace. We aim to create an environment where people from different backgrounds and cultures feel welcome and valued and can succeed and grow together.
Valuing differences
Inclusion is a choice. It’s a conscious behavior, which starts with creating a safe space for everyone to be seen, heard, valued and respected. And the magic is in the mix. Embracing different ideas, opinions and approaches is also what helps us create LEGO® play experiences that are inclusive of all and welcome everyone to the joy of building.
Fostering a sense of belonging
Each of us have visible and invisible dimensions that make us unique. We have a range of initiatives to encourage a sense of belonging, including ensuring the language in our job listings is welcoming to everyone, and are continuously improving our people processes to ensure they are fair and equitable for all.
We understand the critical role parents and caregivers have, especially during a child’s formative years, and believe that the impact of workplace policies on a parent’s opportunity to fulfil this role is critical. We want to enable all our employees to spend precious time with their children, so we have established an extended paid parental leave policy globally. All employees, no matter where they work or what they do, will receive a minimum of 26 weeks’ paid childcare leave for the primary caregiver and 8 weeks’ paid leave for the secondary caregiver. It’s up to the parents to decide who is the primary and secondary caregiver.
Our colleagues play a vital role in creating a welcoming and inclusive workplace. Our voluntary Inclusion Networks help to connect colleagues from traditionally underrepresented groups and inspire a culture of learning, support and allyship amongst all colleagues.
We signed a partnership with UN Women and consequently apply the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) which outline how businesses can deliver on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
We have an ambition to have a balanced representation of gender across all levels in the organisation, in line with Danish regulations regarding gender balance in management and on the Board of Directors.
The LEGO Group has launched a programme to build greater awareness of menopause. It’s designed to help create safe spaces at work for all colleagues to talk about menopause and related wellbeing topics.
By raising awareness and providing support, we can all help to remove stigma associated with menopause conversations at work and give all colleagues any necessary assistance.
We partner with different organisations to broaden our understanding of workplace topics and benchmark our activities to ensure we’re offering a word-class workplace experience.
For example we are a member of the UK-based Business Disability Forum, to help us understand how best to support colleagues with a disability or long-term condition.
Do you want to make an impact on our diversity and inclusion journey? We bring our global ideas to life at a local level wherever we work.
